Small room, serious cake
George has no shortage of coffee shops. What keeps people walking back to the corner of York and Laing is simpler than a trend: coffee that's properly good, a counter of cakes, tarts and macaroons worth choosing slowly, and breakfast that regulars call yummy without needing to explain further. It's a tiny store — six tables — with lovely background music and service that remembers you. Come early on a weekday for brekkie and a chai latte, or make it your Saturday-morning ritual for a cup and something sweet. If we're full, it's worth the wait, and most people tell us it was.
